Frequently asked questions (2)

What is Padrón de Importadores and how long does registration take?

It is the mandatory federal importer registry. Registration is via SAT (RFC + advanced e-signature); base padrón is typically approved in 10 business days, sectorial subrolls (steel, textile, chemical) require additional documents and 20-30 days. Suspension is common - keep e-signature and address updated.

How do I claim USMCA origin?

USMCA uses self-certification by exporter, producer, or importer via the nine data elements (no set form). Product-specific rules require regional value content (usually 60-75% depending on method) plus specific labour-value content for autos. Keep support 5 years.
